Headings contain crucial information for the current and future reader, as well as data for the proper filing and archiving of your work, and proper billing. In a busy law practice, you must be able to retrieve file documents quickly. Maintaining a good database of all your work gives firm members ready access to previous research or opinions. Each memo must have the identifying information required by the firm. Remember to include page numbers as these will be relied on in later discussions or in further work. See "Memo Heading" in Crafting the Memo's Parts for an overview on writing complete headings.
